John's Crazy Socks, the world's largest online sock store, is on a mission to spread happiness through vibrant and fun socks, and to show the world what people with differing abilities can do when given a chance. Founded by a dynamic father-son duo, Mark and John Cronin, JCS boasts over 4,000 colorful, personality-infused sock designs.

In their pursuit of enhancing the customer experience, they teamed up with Card Isle, a company specializing in personalized eCommerce gift messaging, to offer personalized greeting cards to their customers. Discover how this collaboration has taken their gifting experience to the next level.

Founders, John and Mark Cronin, discuss how they work with Card Isle to improve their gift messaging.

THE SITUATION

During initial meetings, John's Crazy Socks was given a demonstration of Card Isle's printing technology, revealing how effortlessly personalized greeting cards could be added to each order.

Mark Cronin explains, “One of the five pillars of JCS is 'Lets make this personal.' We are always trying to build personal connections with our customers and to take care of our customers. By letting them make and add a card to add to their order […] that's a great service.”

We are always trying to build personal connections with our customers and to take care of our customers. By letting them make and add a card to add to their order […] that's a great service.

Andrew Neter, JCS’ Lord of the Socks & Operations Manager (yes, that's his real title), remarked, "We thought it'd be a fantastic addition to our product line - getting a card to match your socks."

GETTING STARTED

The integration process with Card Isle turned out to be remarkably straightforward, according to Neter.

Card Isle developed a custom upsell solution that seamlessly integrated with the JCS Shopify website. This required minimal technical input from the John’s Crazy Socks team to get things up and running. JCS chose to merchandise Card Isle's premium 5"x7" folded greeting card and offer their entire catalog of greeting card designs which includes photo cards and multi-lingual content.

Based on feedback from JCS, Card Isle also created a custom fulfillment integration that automatically prints a personalized greeting card for every order placed.

Neter recalls, "We were able to print cards on the fly within five minutes of Card Isle setting up," referring to the visit from David Henry, Card Isle’s Co-Founder, who set up the printing hardware in their distribution center.

JCS officially launched their partnership with Card Isle in September 2022, and the relationship has been a great fit.

HOW IT'S GOING

Like many gifting-focused businesses, JCS experiences a significant uptick in greeting card orders in December and February. Even during peak volume, employees found Card Isle's system to be user-friendly, and consumers have equally embraced it.

Every customer can print as many cards as they desire, giving John's Crazy Socks peace of mind that inventory shortages are no longer a concern. Neter explains, "Card Isle keeps track of our inventory, and when we’re running low, they promptly send us new supplies."

Together, John's Crazy Socks and Card Isle ensure that every pair of special socks receives the personalized touch it deserves for both senders and receivers.

Neter sums it up, "Customers love it. You can personalize it, choose the exact design you want, or even upload your image if you desire. It's a one-stop shop."
